I agree Matt. Just like what we discussed on Ex Tall Storey!

I know it’s hard to believe but there is a good reason – honest! just ask anyone whose lined up their copper before soldering and then forgotten that they hadn’t made the joint before they made the services live…. JM might expand on this…..

Valve tags present, butterfly not wheel valves used, PPE available for use; looks fine to me. What’s the problem?

Well spotted Matt, there’s no way those ear defenders would be any good as pipe supports. As I always say…its a fixer upper. On a more serious point Richard has hit the nail on the head, hopefully that’s a final connection into the branch, left open to allow positioning of the pipe before connection but orientated to ensure that it can’t be ignored. The installer has more flexibility in mounting the pipe work, can complete all of the work up stream of the connection without having to fight against a constrained joint and it will avoid lots of elbows being put in to correct alignment issues later.

There should, ideally, be some end caps on the fittings to avoid later commissioning issues but that’s just a pipe dream!!

I’d like to hear why JM might be able to expand on this, presumably he gives it the big “thumbs up” as a method 🙂
