It’s not all about the bike…

I’m currently reflecting on the last 15 months living and working in Oz whilst exploring the vast bush of WA.

I’m about to start day three of a 10 day epic trail ride from Albany back to Perth following the infamous 1000km Munda Biddi trail.

So far the terrain is akin to the UK’s green rolling countryside complete with similar weather – very wet and windy!

En route I have come across the more obscure Aussie road signs and Sappers Bridge.

220km down with a couple of easier days ahead before the epic 167km day 5!

You’ll probably find it’s raining ‘cos Daz is in the area going the other way – I’m convinced he is a descendant of a wind/rain God after the Fiji epic and now East coast flooding as he tries to drag the family northwards. Why was the bridge closed? Enjoy the trail.

I think it may have been something to do with no longer being of sufficient MLC.

So what has changed to reduce it’s MLC? Reduced MLC would usually only change the permissible axle weight unless the sign is misleading and it means closed to vehicular traffic? Not to worry, just though curiosity might have lead you to wonder what was different now.

What’s changed is time and it’s made from wood. It is just vehicle traffic now prohibited as I crossed it on the bike.
