Beer Economy

Has anyone else experienced the ‘beer economy’? Credit for anyone who knows the going rate for removing the three and a half blocks detailed in the picture below. It would personally take me 4 minutes with a Stihl Saw.

    Mike,

I’d say the blocks are the least of your worries – how about that RSJ?

Access is pretty tricky and there is potential for collateral to the stud framework and structural steel: 10 pints of craft beer to you mate 🤓

Jim, the conversation went like this:

Me: any chance you can remove those 3 blocks so the mech guys can finish off the West Coast Eagles changing room?
Block contract manager: it might cost you…
Me: (puzzled look) But you work for the same company as me. “One team one fight and all that…” And it’s a 3 minute job, surely you don’t want an instruction written to the brickys?
Block contract manager: no, but it will cost them 2 cartons.
      Me: Cartons?
Block contract manager: 2 crates of beer you pommie t?!#.

      Unbelievable!

So that is what a carton is. Good to know.

What type of system is it for? If that room isn’t on the index run then there might be enough fan power in the system to overcome the losses. Obviously not the right way of dealing with the situation, but an alternative perspective.

    “You pommie tw#t”

Regardless of the engineering problem here – I cannot get over the fact the contract manager has the measure of you after only a few weeks!

No mint on the pillow for when you visit.

Its just another case of liquidated damages. It’ll be right. Get your Stihl saw out and claim the prize.

Mark, couldn’t start the thing. Had to play by their rules and buy the beer…

    Mike,

Part of the temporary structure for scaffolding around the hospital sits in an adjacent Fire Department car park. The cost of extending the use of the parking space from the initial “3 weeks” (which was a complete lie) to “7 months”…..one carton for each of the 4 shifts!

On Monday I am hoping that a similar system works for angry nurses – although I will be using cup cakes rather than beer.
