Government Approved Blogging?!

After a week on site at Martin Place Station, Sydney I have an interesting topic (rock reinforcement) for a blog. However, upon approaching my PM, I have been initially advised that all project related comms need to go through the client – Transport for New South Wales. The process can take up to a month or so. Has anyone else had such problems previously? Any advice would be appreciated.

Happy Sunday all.

    Hi Claire
The only time we’ve had anything like this is on the Joint Operations Center in Maryland
I wonder…..is it any use to say that this Blog is confined to the staff and students of the PEW at Brompton..it is not a public blog?

    Hi Claire

We had a similar problem initially with the USAMRID project. The fact that this is not a public blog seemed to go a long way and a well worded request with a simple set of boundaries worked. Perhaps you could highlight that your blog posts will focus on your development only?

Claire my phase 2 site had the same RMS constraint for official media communication. I explained to the PM on arrival that I had to write AERs and was expected to blog about what I was learning on site. I explained the blog was locked down to the course students and lecturers. He was quite relaxed and we didn’t need to discuss it again.

Hopefully the approach recommended by Jim and Mark will move things forward. If not, can you try engaging with the community team to see what official media opportunities there are? This might allow you to explain the background to the blog. I’d advise you avoid raising the topic with the RMS superintendents though as you’ll probably get the same response.

Thanks all. My PM understands the situation and is working on it. Hopefully I will be able to share more soon.
